Contemporary Australian Literature: A World Not Yet Dead

This new collection of essays by Nicholas Birns is a volume in the Sydney Studies in Australian Literature series. In this collection, Birn proposes that the novel contributes to “a reading of the culture” through the “existing contemporary situation of its characters,” while poetry speaks to their “inward states of experience.”  Birns seeks to explore a wide range of novelists and poets from across generations and the Australian geography.
