The consortial package covers four collections on the ProQuest ebrary platform:
- ebrary Academic Complete Subscription Collection.
- ebrary College Complete Collection.
- ebrary University Press eBook Subscription.
- ebrary Reference eBook Subscription.
Approximately 150 publishers worldwide are represented in the package, with more than 36,000 titles originally published in 2013 or more recent years. Recent-year content includes 5,204 Wiley/Blackwell titles and 1,108 Brill titles. Many academic presses are represented, including 2,255 Princeton University Press titles (256 since 2013), 1,271 Harvard University Press titles (186 since 2013), and 1,206 University of Chicago Press titles. More than 200 titles by Penn authors appear in the package, alongside classic and high-demand works such as Turabian’s A Manual for Writers (8th ed., University of Chicago Press, 2013).
All titles are accessible to multiple simultaneous users. All titles may be downloaded as PDF-format chapters or as a complete book in a 2-week Adobe Digital Editions version. All titles appear in Franklin Catalog and are accessible offcampus through PennKey authentication. All consortial package titles appear on the ProQuest ebrary platform alongside ebrary ebooks we purchase. The consortial subscription runs for three years, to end in December 2019. At that time, we will review the collection’s usage data to determine if we should continue our participation.
PALCI, the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc., aims to develop library collaboration in Pennsylvania and neighboring states. PALCI has nearly 70 academic and research library members, including Penn, Penn State, NYU, Rutgers, Pitt, Temple, Drexel, Bryn Mawr College and the two Quaker colleges. PALCI hosts E-ZBorrow, the direct lending service that in 2016 moved 26,371 library volumes between the Penn Libraries and its PALCI partners at readers’ requests. This consortial ebook subscription package brings us full circle back to 2000, when the Penn Libraries participated in its first consortial ebook package – 1,910 netLibrary ebooks assembled by PALCI.
We welcome your questions about this addition to the Penn Libraries collections, and we are eager to discuss how to integrate these ebooks into your teaching and research. Please contact your Penn Libraries subject librarian for more information about the PALCI ebrary package.
