Biddle Law Library has purchased Supreme Court Insight, an important online collection of source documents for the full opinions in cases argued before the Supreme Court, 1975-2016. The database is available for readers across the Penn campus.
Supreme Court Insight, a ProQuest database, provides dockets, oral arguments, joint appendices, and amicus briefs. Each case’s documents are compiled on a page that presents their position in the judicial process, and each document is also retrievable as a separate item. An advanced search template permits searching by petitioner and respondent name, attorney name, amicus curiae name and organization, justice name, popular law and Supreme Court case name, and subject. Selected cases are flagged as “Landmark Cases”.
Supreme Court Insight is a work-in-progress. Approximately 500 selected Supreme Court cases from 2004-2014/2015 are available now. It is expected that the collection will be complete at the end of 2017. ProQuest is developing a process to add and update cases pending in the current Supreme Court session.
The Penn Libraries are grateful to our colleagues at Biddle Law Library for their generosity in acquiring this database for the Penn community.
